Majority of the people suffering from diabetes often face the trouble of having foot ulcer which is due to the reason that diabetes causes poor circulation and poor sensation in the feet. Therefore, it is important that the diabetics take special care of their feet.

  • Get your feet examined by a professional and trained doctor or a podiatrist. Make sure your feet are examined well during the test so that the doctor is better able to tell you the risks of foot problems that you are most likely to face.
    If there are any such risks then you need an expert who can guide you well to avoid them.
  • There are a few things that a patient can keep a track of on their own. For instance, you can keep a track of any change in the shape of your feet and see if there is pain, redness or any hard skin building up on your feet.
  • Also keep a track of the symptoms of foot ulcers. Such as, if you are lacking sensations in your feet when you get hurt then this may not be a very good sign. In such cases, you need to be very alert!
  • To avoid in-growing toenails, it is important that you are careful while cutting your toenails and avoid hurting yourself by cutting the sides.

  • It is utmost important for all the diabetic patients to wear shoes that are comfortable and will also protect their feet.
